about Claudio

Claudio Flückiger completed both his bachelor's and master's degrees in his hometown of Zurich in the class of Radovan Vlatkovic. Parallel to his studies at the Zurich University of the Arts, he played for two years as an academist in the Philharmonia Zurich. He was also a member of the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra for several years, with which he performed in the most prominent concert halls of Europe.

Already in 2010, half a year before he finished his master studies, he won the position as principal horn in the Tyrolean Symphony Orchestra in Innsbruck and has since March 2011 been principal horn in the Royal Danish Orchestra in Copenhagen.

Claudio loves historical performance practice and new music. As a minor subject he studied natural and baroque horn with Glen Borling and played in various orchestras with historical instruments, such as Concerto Copenhagen and the "La Scintilla” orchestra.

In 2017 he had the opportunity to premiere a horn concerto by Swiss composer Hans Stähli with the orchestra of the Coburg State Theatre. The work was written for him and was enthusiastically received by the audience.
