Samuel Rees
Designer, Producer
Sam is an architect and designer based in London. He joined Equinox Festival in 2019 and started as producer in 2021.

Festival Director Samuel Rees is an architect, choreographer, and former ballet dancer. He studied at The Royal Ballet School under the legendary director Gailene Stock, and during his time in London Samuel performed with The Royal Ballet both at home and on tour in Asia. He also distinguishing himself as a choreographer, earning several awards at the institution's prestigious Ursula Moreton Choreographic Competition.
As a professional dancer, Samuel was a member of the Royal Danish Ballet from 2014 to 2019, where he performed in the company's entire classical and modern repertoire and worked as a choreographer and director on various productions, including Hungry For Blue, Corps, You Are Here, and several short works for the company's Ballet Festival.
After leaving ballet, Samuel studied architecture at the Royal Danish Academy, where he graduated with a masters degree in Cultural Heritage, Transformation and Restoration. Today he works as an architect in London.
At the same time, he works as a choreographer, including at Equinox Festival, where he has created several works for the festival, such as Saffron Dusk in collaboration with Elenora Morris and composer Bushra El-Turk.
